Installation tips
Win32
Dos
Linux (N/A)
MacOS (N/A)
[Installing the normal edition]
There's no real big deal installing the SidBace package, just create a
directory and unzip the contents into it.
[Installing the Plus edition]
If you want to install the Plus version of SidBace, you need to download
the normal edition too, this because the normal edition contains components
that are required for the plus version to run such as the runtime library
and the unzip library.
Though the normal edition runs ahead, the plus edition will still function
on the newer runtime library delivered inside the normal edition package.
(I kept it downwards compatible)
[Installing the database files]
Though you can build your own database, if you have the latest HVSC collection,
it will be taking less time installing the database files from online..
Though it still remains required to add the location path of your C64
music directory, as long as this is correct, the database will work fine.
[HVSC support]
If you have the HVSC collection, it's absolutely important that you don't
move or rename nessesary files from this archive at all, specially files
located in the /DOCUMENTS/ directory. Else you won't benefit the advantages
of the STIL and BUG viewer.
[When errors or bugs encounter]
There are some situations where the application fails (V2.0021 or below)
:
"Error in XitMain....etc"
If you get a similar line displayed like above, you need to update your
Winsock drivers up to version 2.x such as the "wsock32.dll" and "msvcrt.dll".
There is an update available at Micro$oft
Another problem is window contents getting smeared up when windows are
getting outside the desktop area or are being dragged across other applications
that remain on top.
This is a problem of the window updater that only implies users of Win32
which has the desktop PLUS package installed or Win'98 / NT.
To get rid of the smearing, just disable the "Update window contents while
dragging" in your desktop configuration-settings.
If you get other bugs than above you can report them to vvacme@worldonline.nl but only if the bug implies the Win32 version
of SidBace. I will not offer further support to the DOS application.
